Jin Oh 胡谨勇

Jin Oh is a Singaporean composer, sound designer, and guqin player that is based in Finland. As a musician of both Western and Traditional Chinese music background, his music explores both individually as well as the intersection of both across myriad ensembles ranging from choral to wind band to mixed ensembles, occasionally with electronics. His music has been broadcast on YLE Radio and was also performed by international ensembles such as the Keys Ensemble, Uusinta Ensemble, and the Zagros Ensemble. Aside from concert music, his music also intersects with dance such as with the dance theatre group, Ethno Contemporary Ballet.

His mentors in composition and electroacoustic composition include Veli-Matti Puumala (Finland), Tapio Tuomela (Finland), Sami Klemola (Finland), Alejandro Montes de Oca (Finland/Mexico), Josue Moreno (Spain/Finland), and Zechariah Goh Toh Chai (Singapore). He is also under the guidance of Hoh Chung Shih (Singapore) for guqin.

Co-founded the Pangósmos Collective and had been featured in the Shanghai International Arts Festival 2023 Rising Artist 10th Anniversary as part of the  Pangósmos Collective with their music theatre ‘Tales of the Beginning of Time’ . He had also been featured in other festivals in Europe such as UNM Iceland 2022. Oh’s pursuit has also received support from organisations such as Arts Promotion Centre of Finland, Samuel Huberin Taidesäätiö, Sibelius Foundation and National Arts Council of Singapore.
